Wednesdays reserved for pensioner licence renewals

Every Wednesday, pensioners can walk into any Driver’s Licence Testing Centre to renew their driver’s licenses without an online booking.

Pensioners can visit any of the city’s driver’s licence testing centres (DLTCs) for a smoother, walk-in renewal process every Wednesday.

The CoE has introduced a pensioner-friendly initiative by dedicating every Wednesday to helping senior citizens renew their driver’s licences, and no online booking is required.

According to Hamilton Ledwaba, the city’s head of licensing, the move aims to make essential services more accessible to elderly residents who often struggle with online booking systems.

“By setting aside a specific day exclusively for pensioners, the city is making the renewal process simpler, more accessible and inclusive,” said Ledwaba.

The city encourages all eligible pensioners to use this dedicated service every Wednesday, ensuring more efficient assistance without the usual digital hurdles.

For more information or to find the nearest DLTC, pensioners can call the city’s Customer Care Centres or visit its website.
