Brakpan Soup Kitchen expands to help local learners

The well-known feeding scheme needs donations.

Brakpan Soup Kitchen on the corner of Voortrekker Avenue and Gordon Street has been giving food to the less fortunate for the past three years every other Friday.

Ordette Lottering and several businesses started the project and these businesses, along with others, have contributed to the soup kitchen.

This has allowed the soup kitchen to grow enough to feed less fortunate learners from four different primary schools in town.

Ordette and the team also host a Christmas party every December for children in a nearby park. Any donations of toys, hygiene products, sweets and snacks for this party are welcome, as collections are slow.

To get involved in the project or to donate, contact Ordette on 061 287 5634.

Donations of any kind are helpful, however, our most urgent needs are rice, maize meal, pasta, and vegetables.
