WATCH: Phoenix Winter Bash netball tournament hosts 18 teams
The senior, legends and mixed teams battled it out for each category's trophy.
Brakpan’s Phoenix Netball Club hosted their annual Winter Bash tournament on May 31 at the Hoërskool Stoffberg netball courts.
Eighteen teams from all over Gauteng participated in the mixed, senior, and legends games. Games were intense and physical, starting in the morning and only ending after 15:00.
Each team played three games, collecting two points per win, one point per draw and no points per loss. The total points collected determined which teams played in the semi-finals for their category.
After the semi-finals, games were played to determine the winners, second place, and third and fourth place. The winners for each category were as follows:
In the legends category:
1. JTNC from Pretoria.
2. Kempton Stars.
3. Ardagh Glass Netball.
In the seniors category:
1. JTNC.
2. Eagles.
3. Midrand Royals Netball Club.
In the mixed team category:
1. Oupa Malefo from Kagiso.
2. Midrand Royals.
3. GI Janes from Heidelberg.
Teams that competed in the tournament were Midrand, JTNC, White Diamonds, The Wings, Phoenix, Manchester NC, Court Crushers, Reedville Angels, Eagles, Belle Squad, Black Diamonds, Kempton Stars, Dolphins, Ardagh Glass, GI Janes, Babcock, Oupa Malefo and Claws and Balls.
