Clean Brakpan receives monthly backing from local business, calls for more partners
The local clean-up initiative has been boosted by a monthly donation from ZiggyT’s Roadhouse. Other businesses are urged to get involved.
Clean Brakpan has received a welcome boost through a monthly donation from a local business and is appealing to other businesses to contribute in a similar manner.
The project continues to face significant challenges, particularly limited funding, but remains steadfast in its commitment to creating a cleaner, more sustainable environment for all Brakpan residents.
The ongoing success of the initiative relies heavily on sponsorships and donations from both businesses and the community.
Lisa Jordaan, co-founder of Clean Brakpan, told the Brakpan Herald that ZiggyT’s Roadhouse has pledged a monthly donation of R500 to support the project.
While this is a commendable contribution, additional support is essential.
She added that, in lieu of financial donations, businesses are also encouraged to adopt specific areas and take responsibility for maintaining their cleanliness. Admo Engineering is one such local business that has embraced this responsibility.

“We are not here to make money out of our project. We just want the town kept clean no matter how it happens, through us or others,” she said.
“It actually costs us money every month to try keep it going. All funds go to our workers, fuel and equipment repairs. Nothing goes to the founders.”
The project’s founders all work full-time, and while they try to manage in between, it is a struggle every day to raise funds to keep the project going.
While funds still allowed, the team recently made another positive impact in town and were hard at work transforming the middle traffic island along Prince George Avenue in Brenthurst.
They have temporarily halted clean-ups as funds are currently low.

Since their inception in December 2023, the team has tackled numerous clean-up projects in various suburbs, parks and public spaces in Brakpan.
Not only does this help keep the environment clean but it also fosters a sense of community and shared responsibility.
There are many ways to help the project continue its vital work. Equipment donations are greatly appreciated, and residents are also welcome to volunteer their time.
