Motorcyclist burned with exhaust pipe in Leachville hijacking
A group of eight men, some armed, attacked a rider and burned his arm with an exhaust pipe before fleeing with his motorcycle.
A motorcyclist was tied up and assaulted, with his attackers pressing his arm against the bike’s exhaust pipe while demanding information about a tracking device, during a hijacking in Leachville on September 13.
According to police information, the victim was on his way home when a man pushed him off the bike along Kinaboom Avenue at about 19:45.
Shortly afterward, a group of about seven other men arrived at the scene. Some of them were armed with firearms and knives.
The men tied up the rider and assaulted him. During the assault, they pressed his arm against the motorcycle’s exhaust pipe while demanding information about a possible tracking device on the bike.
The victim told them he didn’t know whether the motorcycle was fitted with a tracker.
The group then fled with the bike, a blue Honda Ace 125, valued at R32 000. A case of hijacking has been opened at Brakpan SAPS.
