Athletes show their mettle, rake in medals

Brakpan Athletics Club athletes impressed at an invitational in Germiston, winning 48 medals.

Athletes from the Brakpan Athletics Club recently represented the club at the South African Christian Schools Sports Association (Sacssa) Invitational Athletics event in Germiston.

Forty-one athletes from the club participated, raking in 48 medals – 28 gold, eight silver, and 12 bronze. Coach Nicholas Jansen van Vuuren is proud of his athletes.

The results per athlete were:
• Miane Nel first in girls’ U7 60m and 80m.

• Mila Fourie fifth in girls’ U7 60m and third in 80m.

• Jandre de Waal sixth in boys’ U7 60m and ninth in 80m.

• Bailey Alberts first in girls’ U8 60m and fourth in 80m.

• Anje Davies third in girls’ U8 60m, and fifth in 80m.

• Divan de Villiers fourth in boys’ U8 60m, seventh in 80m, first in 600m.

• Caden D’Aubrey ninth in boys’ U9 60m and ninth in 80m.

• Luan Nel 22nd in boys’ U9 60m and 80m.

• Zenante du Toit fourth in girls’ U10 80m, fourth in 100m, and first in high jump.

• Hayley Fourie fifth in girls’ U10 80m and 100m, and third in long jump.

• Xaden de Meyer first in boys’ U10 80m sprint and long jump, and second in 100m.

• Juan Prinsloo first in boys’ U11 1 200m, fifth in long jump, 11th in 100m, and 13th in 80m sprints.

• Tiaan Prinsloo third in boys’ U11 100m sprint and long jump, and fourth in 80m sprint.

• Volan Coertzen sixth in boys’ U10 100m sprint.

• Duncan Baker first in shotput and boys’ U10 100m and second in high jump.

• Chloe D’Aubrey seventh in girls’ U12 100m and ninth in 150m.

• Mikayla Wessels first in girls’ U12 shotput, third in discus and 100m sprint and sixth in 150m.

• Zayden Pistorius first in boys’ U12 100m, 150m, shotput, and discus.

• Tyron Kinghorn first in boys’ U12 javelin, sixth in high jump, 14th in 100m and 12th in 150m.

• Eben Davies 18th in boys’ U12 100m sprint.

• Megan Cunha third in girls’ U13 100m and first in 200m.

• Hayden Duvenage fourth in boys’ U13 100m and third in 200m.

• Morne Cilliers first in boys’ U13 100m, 200m, and long jump.

• Abigail Human third in girls’ U14 100m, fourth in 200m and first in javelin.
