Ekurhuleni presents at environmental health conference
The City surpassed their 84% target for food premises holding Certificates of Acceptability as well.
The City of Ekurhuleni showcased its progress in air quality management and achieving a healthy environment at the 15th Annual World Environmental Health Day conference, held at Birchwood Hotel and OR Tambo Conference Centre on September 25 and 26.
The city has a dedicated team that monitors air quality daily to safeguard the health of the community, recognising that poor air quality contributes to serious health problems, including respiratory diseases and premature mortality.
Key achievements shared at the conference, which focuses on developing effective policies and best practices for environmental health, include:
• Digitalisation of industrial emissions reporting, improving transparency and operational efficiency;
• Surpassing the 84% target for food premises holding Certificates of Acceptability;
• Deployment of 160 rodent control assistants to combat vector-borne diseases and protect public health.
