Brakpan weekend crime round-up: Gunmen storm business, flee with five vehicles

An overview of crimes reported to Brakpan SAPS from October 24 to 26.

The following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the past weekend:

Friday – Household items valued at R29 000 were stolen during a break-in at a home along Muir Avenue. The stolen items were not disclosed.

• Staff at a business along Springs Road in Denneoord were threatened at gunpoint during a robbery at the premises.

Six men and one woman entered the building at about 16:45 and pointed firearms at the receptionist and her colleagues.

The robbers demanded car keys, which the victims handed over. They were then instructed to lie down on the ground.

Five vehicles were stolen, a white Ford Ranger, a white Nissan NP200, a silver Nissan NP200, a silver Volkswagen Polo Vivo, and a white BMW X5.

The robbers, who were wearing balaclavas, also took cellphones belonging to the receptionist and her colleagues.

Saturday – Tyres were stolen from a truck parked at an address along Springs Road in Vulcania.

• A white Hyundai H100 was stolen from Henderson Street in Sherwood Gardens. Tools and a cellphone were inside the vehicle.

• A silver Nissan Sentra was stolen from Prince George Avenue in Brenthurst.

• Tables, a 5kg gas bottle, cutlery and other valuables were stolen from a business along Bekker Road in Dalview.

Sunday – No priority cases were reported at the time of publication.
