Brakpan quartet to represent South Africa at world championships
Four athletes from the Unbroken Endurance Training Academy competed in Bloemfontein recently.
Four athletes from Brakpan’s Unbroken Endurance Training Academy made their mark on the national stage with outstanding performances at the South African Laser Run Championships in Bloemfontein.
The outstanding performances of Donovan van Zyl, Quade McGhee, Dian Barnard, and Arnu Barnard earned them selection to the South African Modern Pentathlon Association’s Laser Run Team.
The team will compete at the UIPM Laser Run World Championships in Mossel Bay from December 12 to 13. Both Donovan and Quade impressed with silver medals in their respective divisions.
Donovan and Dian also achieved the official Protea colours qualifying standard – a milestone reflecting their dedication and consistency throughout the season.

Coach Jared de Waal, who leads the Unbroken Endurance Training Academy, is proud of his athletes’ achievements.
“These four have worked hard this year. Their commitment to training, teamwork, and perseverance have been inspiring, and seeing them earn an opportunity to compete on the world stage is special,” he said.
