Brakpan weekend crime round-up: Motorbike and wheelchair stolen in separate break-ins

An overview of crimes reported to local SAPS from November 21 to 23.

The following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the past weekend:

Friday – An e-hailing driver was hijacked by two passengers after picking them up. The driver, travelling in a white Toyota, responded to a ride request from a tavern in Benoni at around 03:00.

After picking up the men, he drove to Dalpark Ext 1. As the driver approached the boom gate along Viking Road, one of the men, seated behind him, grabbed him around the neck.

The second man, seated in front, climbed out of the vehicle and moved to the driver’s door. The driver was choked during the attack, but managed to fight back and opened the door.

He ran away, and the men then drove off with the vehicle.

Saturday – A wheelchair was stolen during a burglary at a residence along Hastings Avenue.

Sunday – A black and orange KTM 1050 motorbike was stolen from an address along Lester Road in Brenthurst. The motorcycle was parked in a locked garage, which was broken into.
