Woman surprised by armed robbers in shower

Two men and a woman entered a home while the mother was in the shower, forcing her to hand over money and valuables.

A Kitzinger Avenue woman was confronted by house robbers on December 6 while taking a shower. According to police information, the woman was in the shower at around 10:15, when she heard a knock at the bathroom door.

Believing it was one of her children needing to use the toilet, the woman unlocked the door. She was confronted by the three intruders – two men and a woman. They were with her children.

One of the men struck the woman in the face with a gun and demanded to know where money was kept. She took him to a bedroom and handed over R5 000 in cash.

The robbers took a smartwatch before going to the children’s bedroom, where they stole two cellphones. The robbers then took the woman to the lounge where they demanded more valuables.

She then noticed a man known to her lying on the floor face-down, with his hands and feet tied with cable ties.

His connection to the household is unclear.

The woman’s hands were also tied with cable ties. After taking a laptop, the trio fled the scene through the front door.

After the robbers left, one of the children managed to free his mother by cutting the cable ties with a pair of scissors. A case of house robbery is under investigation by Brakpan SAPS.
