Final karate grading ceremony for the year at Shotokan Karate Club

Students were graded to the next level, while sensei Lolia Basa, now a Shihan, was awarded fifth Dan.

Students of the Shotokan Karate Club in Brakpan were recently graded to the next level, while their sensei, Lolia Basa, now a shihan, was awarded fifth Dan black belt.

Shihan is a step above a sensei in martial arts. The students who were graded were:

• Tinotenda Mutara, graded to full yellow.

• Siyabonga Shabangu, graded to brown one.

• Hannah Donda, graded to full green.

• Lethabo Maseko, graded to yellow one.

• Malone Cox, graded to yellow one.

• David Kumbi, graded to full purple.

• Ryan Thandolwethu, graded to full orange.

• Innocent Marwodzi, graded to full yellow.

• Aiden Munongwa, graded to full blue.

• Godwill Kumbi, graded to full blue.

• Rianca Thysse, graded to yellow one.

• Kelo Mushinini, graded to full orange.

• Nkosehle Mkiz, graded to full yellow.

• Leon Chakezha, graded to orange two.

• Gracie Kabalonga, graded to yellow one.

• Ziame Swampoel, graded to yellow one.
