GALLERY: Supporters and players honoured at Ekurhuleni East Darts Association prizegiving
Ekurhuleni East Darts Association (EEDA) held its prizegiving at their new venue.
The Ekurhuleni East Darts Association (EEDA) held its annual prize-giving on December 6 to honour players for their achievements throughout the year.
The event was held at the association’s new venue in Withok, unveiled earlier this year. The Ekurhuleni East Masters and Ekurhuleni East Darts Associations’ awards were handed out, including trophies for the association’s trophy night competitions.
The following members received awards:
• Hetta Bruwer got a 140 score in the Ekurhuleni East Masters division.
• Elize Jooste achieved a 140 score and second place in the women’s doubles in the Ekurhuleni East Masters division. She and Petro Pansegrauw each received a bouquet for being the biggest supporters.
• Natasha Cronjé achieved four 140 scores, her first 180, second place in drawn mixed trebles, and first in the ladies’ social league in the Ekurhuleni East Masters division.
• Thys Ferreira-Netto achieved his 25th 171 in the Ekurhuleni East Masters and also bagged first place in the men’s doubles and men’s social league.

• Corrie Bruwer achieved his fifth 180 in the Ekurhuleni East Masters, along with a second place in men’s singles and first place in the men’s social league.
• Danie Binneman almost cleared half of the trophy table. In the masters division, he achieved his 100th 180, the highest close at 164, first in men’s singles, first in men’s doubles, first in drawn mixed trebles, player of the year among the men, and second in the men’s social league.
In the EEDA, he scored his 10th 171, 500th 180, a trophy for the most 180s (121 of them), achieved a 170 closure, and served on the EEDA committee as PRO.
At the EEDA trophy nights, he bagged the Belvon Cup, Singles Cup, Easterns Men Drawn Doubles Cup, Eastern Selected Trebles Cup, and Open’s Trophy Men. He was also first in the Legends 26 league men’s division and player of the year among men for the EEDA.
• Natasha Grobler participated in the Ekurhuleni East Masters, where she achieved second in women’s singles and was honoured as female player of the year.

• Lucia Fivaz also participated in Ekurhuleni East Masters, where she achieved first in women’s singles.
• Petro Saunders achieved a second in the Ekurhuleni East Masters women’s doubles.
• Magda Verster achieved first place in the women’s doubles and third in the ladies’ social league of the Ekurhuleni East Masters.
• Ronel Bruwer, in the Ekurhuleni East Masters, achieved first in the women’s doubles, was named most dedicated player among women, and achieved first in the drawn mixed trebles.
• Sakkie van Niekerk, in the Ekurhuleni East Masters, came second in men’s doubles, second in drawn mixed trebles, and was awarded as the most dedicated player among men.
At the EEDA trophy nights, he achieved second place in the Easterns Men Drawn Doubles, Easterns Selected Trebles, and Opens Trophy Men. He was also awarded the most dedicated men’s player in the EEDA.

• Danie van Coller, in the Ekurhuleni East Masters, achieved second in the men’s doubles.
• Martinis Cronjé achieved second in the Ekurhuleni East Masters drawn mixed trebles.
• Dirk Heyns achieved first in drawn mixed trebles in the Ekurhuleni East Masters.
• Bernadette Ferreira achieved second in the Ekurhuleni East Masters ladies’ social league, and in the EEDA she achieved 13 140s, her first 171, the prize for the most 140s and most 180s. She also competed in the trophy nights, where she won the Easterns Ladies Singles Cup, the C van der Spuij Cup, and the Opens Trophy Ladies.
• Leon Jooste came third in the Ekurhuleni East Masters men’s social league, and at the EEDA trophy nights he won the Eastern Men Drawn Doubles trophy. He is the president of the association.
• Bianca Marais only participated in EEDA leagues and trophy nights. She achieved one 140 score, the highest closure among the women at 151, and at the trophy night Eastern Selected Trebles she came second. She was also the EEDA’s most improved player.

• Nadine Ferreira achieved three 140s in the EEDA, and at the trophy nights she achieved second in the Easterns Ladies Singles Cup, first in the Easterns Selected Trebles, and second in the Opens Trophy Ladies. She is the financial director for the EEDA, as well as the women’s player of the year and the sports lady of the year.
• Clarice van Niekerk achieved four 140 scores, as well as her fifth 180 in the EEDA.
• Jozani Coetzee achieved five 140s in the EEDA.
• Bernice van Niekerk achieved six 140s, got her first 171, and at the trophy nights she achieved first in the Easterns Ladies Drawn Doubles. She was also third in the Legends 26 ladies and juniors division.
• Promise Kubeka earned six 140s in the EEDA, his first 180, first place in the Juniors Cup, second in the C van der Spuij Cup, first in the Opens Trophy Juniors, and first in the Legends 26 ladies and juniors division. He was also the junior sportsman of the year.
• Mariska Otto achieved eight 140s, came second in the Legends 26 ladies division, and is the committee secretary of the EEDA.
• Precious Onyekwelu achieved her first 171, came second in the trophy night Easterns Ladies Drawn Doubles and Opens Trophy Juniors. She was awarded the most dedicated player among the women, as well as junior sports lady.

• Chris Minnie achieved his first 171 in the EEDA, 10th, 15th, and 20th 180 badges, and came first in the Easterns Selected Trebles Cup. He was also third in the Legends 26 men’s division and is vice president of the EEDA.
• Roelof Burger achieved his first 171 and came second in the Easterns Selected Trebles.
• Brandon le Roux achieved his fifth 171, got the highest closure among the men at 160, came second in the Easterns Men’s Singles, Belvon Singles, and Legends 26 among the men. He was also awarded the sportsman of the year award.
• Jonathan van Tonder achieved his 10th 180 score and was the most improved player.
• Quintin Marais achieved his 10th and 15th 180.
• Morne Grove achieved his 20th 180.

• Dean Sevenster achieved his 20th 180 and a 170 closure.
• Charles Chinembiri achieved a 170 closure, came first in the Easterns Men Singles Cup, and is the development officer on the committee.
• Zhander St James came second in the Juniors Cup.
• Angel Onyekwelu came second in the Easterns Ladies Drawn Doubles.
• Natasha Janse van Vuuren came first in the Easterns Ladies Drawn Doubles.
• Tyrone Manley came second in the Easterns Men’s Drawn Doubles.
• Pieter Oosthuizen is the tournament director on the committee.
• In the Ekurhuleni East Masters League of 2025, team TET came third, team 100 second and team DNS first.
