Dalview shooting leaves woman injured, cellphone stolen
Mother and daughter faced a terrifying ordeal as two men confronted them in their parked car.
Brakpan police are investigating a case of attempted murder and armed robbery after a 49-year-old woman was shot in front of her daughter in Dalview on the evening of February 16.
The two attackers fled with only a cellphone.
According to police information, the incident took place along Devon Street at around 19:55, while the mother and daughter were parked outside an address on this street in a white Toyota Urban Cruiser.
The mother was sitting in the driver’s seat with the window open, while her daughter sat in the passenger seat with the window closed.
Two men approached the vehicle – one went to the driver’s side, and the other to the passenger side. The man at the driver’s side reached in through the open window and appeared to be searching for the vehicle’s keys.
His accomplice demanded that the daughter open her window, but she refused. After failing to find the keys, the man fired a shot, which struck the mother. It is reported she sustained injuries to her stomach and thigh.
The man on her side then grabbed her cellphone, and the duo climbed into a vehicle parked behind the Urban Cruiser and fled the scene. The mother was transported by ambulance to hospital for medical attention.
