Weekend crime round-up

An overview of crimes reported to local SAPS from April 28 to 30.

The following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the past weekend:

Friday – A home in Van Schoor Street, Sherwood Gardens, was burgled of TVs, a laptop, wristwatches and other valuables.

• Jewellery and TVs were stolen during a break-in at a residence along Joubert Street in Brenthurst.

• A bakkie parked at an address along Witpoortjie Road in Rand Collieries was stripped of its wheels.

• A house robbery was reported at a home along Gladstone Avenue.

Two men gained entry to the house at around 14:30 but fled soon afterwards.

A 14-year-old girl saw the intruders and alerted her mother who was vacuuming in the house.

The mother and daughter ran outside and saw the lock to the backyard gate had been broken.

The robbers took the teenager’s cellphone.

Saturday – A cellphone and a wallet containing cards and cash were stolen from a vehicle parked along Springs Road in Vulcania.

• Cash was stolen during a burglary at a home in Northdene Avenue.

• A home in Selbourne Avenue was broken into and a TV and sound equipment were stolen.

• Tyres and rims were stolen from a vehicle parked along Goods Road.

• A generator was stolen from a Park Street business.

Sunday – No priority cases were reported at the time of publication.
