A truck and two trailers hijacked in Brakpan were recovered by the Benoni Flying Squad during recent policing operations.

Between September 21 and 27, BFS members also arrested five suspects, recovered drugs, copper, and two motor vehicles.

Two suspects, aged 36 and 42, were arrested for drug-related offences in Kempton Park on Oak Street and North Rand Road. Crystal methamphetamine and cat (cocaine) were recovered in these separate incidents.

On Tuesday, at around 08:00, members pulled over a white Hyundai panel van transporting large bags at the N12/Putfontein offramp.

Upon searching, the bags were found to contain copper cables suspected to be stolen. Two suspects, aged 35 and 38, were immediately arrested.

The Hyundai was impounded as used in the commission of a crime and the copper cables valued at around R80 000 were booked in as an exhibit.

On Wednesday evening at around 23:50, members patrolling in Thembisa were led by a complainant in a domestic violence case to an address in Illidinga Section where she pointed out the 41-year-old suspect whom they placed under arrest and detained at Tembisa SAPS.

Members recovered a silver Volkswagen Tiguan in 5th Avenue, Springs CBD, reported hijacked on a Benoni case, and a white UD truck and two trailers at the corner of Springs Road and Combrinck Street in Crystal Park reported hijacked on a Brakpan case.

A white Toyota Hilux reported hijacked on a Sekhukhune case was recovered after a chase on Saturday morning at 04:00 from the N12 which ended in a veld at the corner of Laris and the R555 in Etwatwa.

The suspect managed to flee the scene. Investigation continues in all cases.

The suspects appeared and will appear in the local magistrate’s courts facing charges of possession of drugs, possession of suspected stolen goods and domestic violence.
