Carnival City takes Mandela Month to heart
Blanket and sanitary items donation to Tholakele Centre of Hope.
On International Mandela Day, celebrated across the globe on July 18, Carnival City stepped up to the plate and supported Tholakele Centre of Hope in Withok with blankets and sanitary items.
On Mandela Day, South Africans are encouraged to spend 67 minutes of their time in service to others in need, in appreciation of the 67 years that Mandela spent fighting for justice, equality and human rights for all.
More than eight staff members were involved in providing support in terms of more than 50 blankets donated by Carnival City employees.
The general and finance manager conducted a tour around the facility to determine what future support can be provided.

The centre cares for displaced children who come from dire circumstances and covers the communities of Tsakani, Geluskdal, Duduza and Kwa-Thema.
“We are thrilled to once again support the centre and that we could provide blankets and sanitary items for the 30 children at Tholakele and will be doing all we can to continue to help in future,” said Annemie Turk, Carnival City’s general manager.
Tholakele centre manager Kholeka Mthembu said the facility is grateful for the donations.
“Blankets and sanitation are one of the biggest needs of the centre. Not only have you put a smile on each child’s face but you have assisted our children’s home by bridging the gap to help the most vulnerable of our community,” she said.
“This truly is an eternal investment.”
