Attempted murder investigation underway after mob attack in Wenden Avenue

Brakpan police are on the hunt for the culprits.

A case of attempted murder is under investigation after a man was injured in a mob attack on Sunday morning.

Police reports reveal a member of the public hurried into the police station at about 05:30 and told an officer on duty that law enforcement is required along Wenden Avenue, near High Street.

The community member informed the officer that a man was being attacked by a group of males, and had suffered serious injuries.

The officer, accompanied by Crime Prevention Wardens, rushed to the scene, and found the victim lying on the ground.

He had difficulty breathing and was unable to speak.

The victim also had a wound on his forehead and was bleeding profusely.

An ambulance was called and the victim was taken to the Far East Rand Hospital shortly thereafter.

Police recovered a stick suspected to have been used during the assault.

The motive for the attack is unknown.
