Hijackers target cattle-laden truck

The driver was threatened at gunpoint.

A truck, loaded with cattle valued at R85 000, was stolen during a hijacking at the Heidelberg and Elsburg roads intersection in Dalpark last Friday.

According to police information, the truck driver was en route to deliver the cows, when he stopped at around 10:30 to attend to one of the animals.

This after he noticed one of the cow’s feet protruding through the truck’s cattle railing.

While helping the cow, the driver was approached by three men, one of whom was armed with a gun.

He was forced into a red Hyundai and driven away.

The driver was later released in an informal settlement in Katlehong.

The hijacked white Hino truck is valued at R300 000.

An additional charge of kidnapping was opened along with the hijacking docket.
