Brakpan weekend crime round-up: Hijackers target motorcyclist in night attack

An overview of crimes reported to local SAPS from March 20 to 22.

The following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the past weekend:

Friday

Tyres and rims were stolen from trucks and trailers parked at an address along Denne Road in Witpoort Estates.

• A motorcyclist was robbed of his bike and belongings by an unknown number of hijackers.

The incident took place at the corner of Lukas Steyn Street and Heidelberg Road (R23), near Withok Estates, at around 21:40.

The victim was travelling towards Tsakani. While riding, he rode over an object he suspects was a rope, causing him to fall and lose consciousness.

Upon regaining consciousness, a gunshot was fired. He was then pulled into an open veld.

He was searched and robbed of his bag, containing R130, his driver’s licence, ID book and cellphone.

The victim was instructed to unlock his cellphone.

His attackers then fled with his motorbike, a black Big Boy 200, valued at around R25 000.

• A brush cutter was stolen from a garage at a residence along Lanyard Road in Dalpark.

Friday

Tyres and rims were stolen from a trailer parked at an address along Beechwood Street in Leachville.

• A white Toyota Fortuner was stolen from the corner of Short Street and Colliery Road in Dalview.

• A black Ford Ranger was stolen from Carmyllie Street in Dalview. The vehicle was found stripped in Vosloorus.

Sunday

A business situated along Victoria Avenue was burgled of computer equipment, liquor and other valuables.
