Brakpan weekend crime round-up: Cash, laptop and keys stolen in suspected bank-following robbery
An overview of crimes reported to local SAPS from June 5 to 7.
The following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the past weekend:
Friday – A man was robbed of cash and other valuables by two gunmen at an address along Springs Road in Vulcania.
The incident took place at about 13:00. The victim had earlier visited a bank where he made a deposit and withdrew cash.
He then returned to his workplace, and noticed that he was followed onto the premises by a white Mercedes-Benz.
Shortly after parking, the Mercedes-Benz stopped behind his car. Two men armed with guns got out of the vehicle with their faces covered.
They confronted him and demanded to know where the money was. He handed over the remaining cash in his possession.
The robbers also took a laptop, a cellphone, and his car keys before fleeing the scene.

- A TV, a laptop, clothes and shoes were stolen during a break-in at a home along Malan Street in Sherwood Gardens.
- Wheel caps were stolen from a car parked at the corner of Prince George and Northdene avenues.
Saturday – A car parked along Victoria Street was broken into. Undisclosed items were stolen from the vehicle. A window was broken to gain access.
- A motorcyclist was hijacked at the intersection of New Kleinfontein and Station Roads at about 20:30.
As the rider approached the stop sign at the intersection, he was attacked by three men who struck him on the back of the head with an object, causing him to fall off the motorcycle.
The victim managed to escape, but left the bike behind. He watched his attackers pushing the motorcycle toward nearby bushes.
- A compressor was stolen during a break-in at a business along Prince George Avenue.
Sunday – No priority cases were reported at the time of publication.
