Ekurhuleni urges traders to comply with permit conditions

The City of Ekurhuleni reminds informal traders to comply with permit conditions or risk losing their trading permits.

The City of Ekurhuleni reminds informal traders to comply with the conditions attached to their trading permits to avoid enforcement action or the revocation of their permits.

According to the CoE spokesperson Zweli Dlamini, an informal trading permit is issued to a specific individual and cannot be transferred to another person under any circumstances.

“Traders are also required to keep their permits available for inspection at all times while operating.

“Trading may only take place between 06:00 and 19:00, as stipulated in the permit,” he said.

The city said traders must comply with all applicable by-laws and regulations of both the City of Ekurhuleni and the EMPD.

“In addition, trading is only permitted within an approved demarcated trading area.

“Traders are expected to keep their trading spaces clean and tidy throughout the day and ensure that no structures or equipment are left behind after trading hours,” added Dlamini.

The city warned that failure to comply with these conditions could result in a trading permit being revoked.

Informal traders are encouraged to familiarise themselves with the permit conditions and adhere to the city’s by-laws to ensure lawful and safe trading.
