Louwrens Coetzer Attorneys in Dalview held a food drive on July 18 (Mandela Day) for their 67 Minutes campaign, collecting 750ml glass jars and soup ingredients to make soup kits for residents of the Tweedy Park Old Age Home.

One hundred and seventy-six jars were prepared for the elderly residents, containing rice, split peas, lentils, beans, stock blocks or powder, and soup packs, which were handed out on July 20.

“A heartfelt thank you to every Brakpan real estate agency, property practitioner, family member, volunteer, and community supporter who joined us for the Kindness Soup Jar Challenge at Louwrens Coetzer,” said Natashia Barnard.

“Because of your generosity, we didn’t just reach our goal; we packed 176 soup jars and received additional ingredients to bless even more elderly people,” she said.

While they have plenty of ingredients, they need an additional 750ml jar to complete the kits.

“This is proof that when Brakpan comes together, amazing things happen. Competition was set aside, and kindness took centre stage.

“Together, we gave more than food; we gave hope, warmth, and the reassurance that our elderly community is not forgotten,” she said.
