Cross country athletes hold club name high in schools meet
The schools cross country season kicked off on July 24, where athletes from the Unbroken Endurance athletics club stood out.
The Brakpan primary schools cross-country season got underway on July 24, with the first league meet taking place at Hoërskool die Anker.
Jared de Waal, head coach for Unbroken Endurance Training Academy, says his athletes delivered an outstanding performance on the day, representing the academy and various primary schools.
“The team showcased both depth and quality, collecting an impressive tally of six gold and two silver medals, underlining their strength early in the season,” he said.
Leading the gold medal charge were:
- Amru Myburgh (U9 boys).
- Niahnè Bothma (U11 girls).
- Malakai Smuts (U11 boys).
- Mikayla Mans (U12 girls).
- Megan-Ann Roberts (U13 girls).
- Caleb Roberts (U13 boys).
Adding to the medal haul were a silver medal from Quade McGhee (U13 boys) and a bronze from Elricke Heine.
The event marked the first of three consecutive weekly meets hosted at Hoërskool Die Anker, building up to the highly anticipated Brakpan Prestige Cross Country Meet scheduled for August 14.
De Waal expressed his satisfaction with the team’s opening performance, noting the athletes’ strong start to the season and their continued commitment to training and development.
