A hijacking turned into a kidnapping ordeal when three men forced the woman driver of a white Ford Figo into her vehicle and drove off with her.

The incident took place at about 19:00 on July 23 outside an address along Stoffberg Avenue.

According to police information, the woman had left a residence along this street and was walking towards her vehicle, which was parked on the road.

As she was about to open her vehicle’s door, a dark-coloured car stopped next to her. Three men got out of the vehicle, two of whom were armed with guns.

The men pointed the firearms at her and ordered her to get into the back seat of her vehicle. One man entered the back seat with her, while another took the driver’s seat.

The third returned to their vehicle, after which both cars drove away. While driving, the men forced the victim to lie down on the seat and covered her with an unknown item.

They took her cellphone and forced her to provide the PINs for her banking apps. They transferred money using cash-send and took screenshots of the transactions.

The pair later dropped her off in a local smallholding area. Items taken with the victim’s car included a driver’s licence and R400 in cash. Cases of hijacking and kidnapping are under investigation by Brakpan SAPS.
