Brakpan CPF in good hands as chair, secretary bid farewell

Brakpan CPF chairperson Tinus Jordaan and secretary Lisa Jordaan bid CPF leadership farewell.

Brakpan CPF said goodbye to its chairperson, Tinus Jordaan, and secretary Lisa Jordaan, on October 10 at Cosy Corner in Brenthurst.

Tinus has been part of the CPF since 2015 and was elected chair in 2022, while Lisa has served as secretary for the last six years and has been part of the CPF since the beginning of 2020.

For Lisa, the most rewarding part of the role was doing good in the community, making a difference and assisting Brakpan SAPS in any way she could. For Tinus, it was about helping people, keeping the town safe, and growing the CPF.

“The most difficult aspect was dealing with people who had just lost someone; it was always very sad,” he said.

“What was hard for me was working with the community that is often very abusive to us volunteers and ungrateful, but also seeing the serious challenges in the community and the horrors of crime,” Lisa explained.

The role of secretary hasn’t been filled yet, but Lisa hopes a certain member of the organisation will be voted in.

“She is very capable and loyal and has been in the CPF a long time. If she is voted in, the CPF is in good hands,” she said.

Simon Mabuse has taken over as chairperson, and Tinus trusts Simon to lead the CPF and build on what Tinus has done.

“I am still part of the CPF, and I still want to help keep our town safe, but I am also busy with a new venture that takes up a lot of my time, and I can’t give as much to the CPF anymore,” Tinus said.

Lisa is on a new and exciting spiritual path that takes up all her spare time.

“I am loving it, learning new skills, especially in content creation, AI and more. It’s allowed me to be very creative and fulfil my soul.

“It is a path I should have been on over 35 years ago already, but all happens according to God’s timing, so now must be the right time,” she said.

Lisa hopes the CPF continues to grow, help the community with a good heart and care, and maintain a strong bond with SAPS.

Tinus wants people to continue the work he did and keep the CPF’s name high. His message to the public is not to complain all the time, but to step up and do something.

“Be part of the organisation that works with SAPS. It’s not a perfect organisation, but once you understand how the system works, you can help teach the public and make them understand why it’s important to work with the system instead of fighting it,” he said.

Lisa wants people to understand that the CPF is about so much more than fighting crime.

“It’s about doing their part in healing the community’s trauma and suffering, to instil a sense of oneness, and Ubuntu, as we are stronger together. Any community that is divided will always fall,” she said.

“I am not going anywhere; I am still a loyal member of CPF and a resident of Brakpan. I will always be here and serve my community where possible. I have just stepped down from CPF management to pursue a new path.

“I have not stepped down from my love for my community and service towards Brakpan and South Africa as a whole.”

Mabuse said the farewell was held to express the CPF’s heartfelt gratitude to Tinus and Lisa for their dedication, commitment and valuable service to the Brakpan community.

“We sincerely thank them for their time, effort and sacrifices made in serving the CPF and strengthening community safety. Their service is appreciated, their contribution valued and their legacy remembered,” he said.
