Brakpan SPCA sterilisation drive sees 79 pets spayed and neutered

The local society thanks responsible pet owners for making the drive a success.

The Brakpan SPCA offered discounted sterilisation throughout September as part of a sterilisation drive.

The initiative aimed to help pet owners prevent unwanted litters, protect their animals from health risks and contribute to reducing the stray animal population in Brakpan.

The local society reports that 52 dogs and 27 cats were sterilised during the drive.

“Thanks to your incredible support, we successfully sterilised 79 animals in total. That is 79 fewer breeding animals in our community, making a massive dent in the cycle of unwanted litters and overcrowded shelters,” said the SPCA.

“A massive thank you to every single pet owner who stepped up to make the responsible choice for their pets’ health and well-being. You made this drive the huge success that it was.”

As a result of a new veterinary partnership, the SPCA has officially revised their standard, everyday sterilisation rates.

The new fees are:

  • Dogs (male or female): R900
  • Cats (male or female): R750

Beyond sterilisation, the SPCA also offers the following affordable preventive care services to keep your pets healthy and safe:

  • Canine vaccinations: R250
  • Feline vaccinations: R250
  • Rabies vaccinations: R50
  • Deworming: R40 per tablet (per 10kg body weight)
  • Microchipping: R150

Preparations for the next special public initiative have started. Follow the Brakpan SPCA’s Facebook page for updates.
