In the spotlight
Brakpan Central resident Robert Kuilder (45) is the chairperson of the Sector One Brakpan CPF.
He is married to Lee-Ann (45) and has four children, Andrew (24), Shane (19), Kevin (17) and Anushca (11).
• For how long have you been involved with the Brakpan CPF?
Since 2004.
• What made you join the CPF?
To make a difference in our community.
• Why is the CPF important in the fight against crime?
It allows the community to help make our town safe for our children and the elderly.
• What do you think is the solution to South Africa’s crime problem?
I feel if we can make South Africa drug-free our children will have a chance to create a better future.
• Do you have any hobbies or special interests?
Spending time with my family.

I also enjoy sport and find working in the garden relaxes me.
• If you had the power to solve one and only one problem in the world, what would it be and why?
The scourge of drugs because it is our children who suffer.
Drugs also cause so many other issues.
• How would you describe yourself?
Compassionate, caring, vigilant, always helpful and self-motivated.
• What is your favourite thing about Brakpan?
The community.
• What do you see as the greatest strength of this community?
They are always there to assist in the fight to keep our town clean of drugs and crime.
• What is your greatest concern for this community? What do you see as its greatest needs?
The greatest concern for me is that you see so many young children using drugs.
The greatest need is for us to all stand together and help keep the town drug-free.
I would like all in the community to take each other’s hands and stand together.
That is my goal for all.
