Buys represents in the USA

Currently on tour in the USA, as part of the South African Cadet Team, JP Buys, a cadet wrestling for Brakpan Wrestling Club, is cleaning up his competition.

“We could not be more proud,” said Gussie Bartlett, secretary of the Brakpan Wrestling Club.

The team is halfway through the tour and Buys has convincingly won all five of his matches so far.

He started his campaign in a competition against a Canadian and American invitational team and overshadowed all three his opponents.

The tour then moved to Oregon, where they took on the Oregon State Wrestling Team and, again,

Buys showed good skills by beating both his opponents.

This success comes on the back of his brilliant performance at the recent South African Championships, in Cape Town.

Buys managed not only to win the very prestigious President’s title in the u-50 weight category, but he also took gold in the cadet u-50 division the very next day.

Also bringing back some medals was Martin Erasmus, who won gold in the President’s u-96 weight category and a bronze in the senior u-96 division.

Robbie White won the senior u-60 category.
