The golf director and club professional at the Royal Oak Country Club, Kenneth Dube, is enjoying the sweet taste of success after claiming victory in a hotly contested tournament.
The golfer finished in first place in the 2013 Central Gauteng Regional Championship, a Professional Golfers Association (PGA) of South Africa event, at the Royal Johannesburg and Kensington Golf Course.
The tournament was held on August 5 and 6, and was played over 36 holes.
Dube won the tournament by a single shot over Ruwan Combrink, with a gross total score of 141.
He shot 70 in the first round and 71 in the second.
This is not the first time that the PGA of South Africa Order of Merit 2012 award winner has experienced success at this tournament.
In 2011 Dube lifted the trophy after beating former South African Open Champion Clinton Whitelaw by two shots.
Speaking of his achievement, Dube said: “I played very nicely and did well to win by a single shot against some very good golfers.
“The course was in excellent shape and the conditions were good for my game.”
He added that he is proud of the way he played.
“My swing felt good and my putting went well.”
He will play in a number of tournaments around the country in the lead up to the Diners Club International Pro-Am Classic, in Abu Dhabi, from November 17 to 21, and said that his victory at the Royal Johannesburg and Kensington Golf Course has given him the boost he needs as he looks ahead to the Middle East tournament.
