Fixtures finalised for Community Cup
The fixtures for the 2014 Cell C Community Cup were confirmed by the South African Rugby Union (SARU) on Friday, November 15.
South Africa’s flagship tournament for non-university clubs kicks off on Saturday, March 8, next year, with club matches spread across the country.
Brakpan Rugby Club, bronze medallists in the 2013 Community Cup, will accumulate the kilometres as the aim for overall victory.
Drawn in Group C, the “Panne” will play their first game of the tournament on the West Coast, against Boland’s club champions Roses United at Pelican Park in Wellington.
The team will have a bye in round two before they take on wild-card Boksburg in an East Rand derby, a rematch of the Valke Peregrine League final at Bosman Stadium earlier this year.
In round four of the tournament, the “Panne” will welcome BB Truck Noordelikes to Brakpan,. They will travel to Centurion Rugby Club in round five.
From there on the two highest-placed clubs in each of the four pools will qualify for the Easter Championship play-offs, to be played, once again, at Outeniqua Park, in George, from April 17 to 21.
