Aikido legend visits Brakpan
The Aikido Federation of South Africa (AFSA) recently held their annual summer school, and invited two high ranking aikido instructors from overseas to come and instruct at the seminar.
The instructors were sensei Franco Martufi, of Italy (sixth Dan Aikikai and AFSA technical advisor), and shihan and Guam Mutsuko Minegishi, of Japan (seveth Dan Aikikai and AFSA honorary president).
The Brakpan Aikido Centre was privileged enough to have Minegishi in the dojo for two nights, where she enlightened the minds of all the students.
Minegishi (73) is the highest graded female aikido instructor in the world and has a special love for teaching aikido to children.
She also actively works to promote awareness on ending violence against woman and children.
