Two races held from Colesberg

The Brakpan Pigeon Club flew their 10th race of the season with the Yearling National and young bird races from Colesberg.

The pigeons were liberated at 7.15am on Sunday, August 10, due to bad weather on Saturday, August 9.

The first young bird home belonged to the partnership of Hennie Pienaar and Frik Smith (CX Hokke), who were timed at 3.48.33pm, at a speed of 1 146.387mpm.

Second place went to Peet Prinsloo and his grandson, Alrico (flying as Peet and Alrico), whose bird clocked in at 3.53.27pm, at a speed of 1 136.703mpm.

Third place went to David Pretorius, whose bird was timed at 4.52pm, at a speed of 1 117.458mpm.

The Yearling National was also won by CX Hokke, whose bird clocked in at 3.51.38pm, at a winning speed of 1 139.546mpm.

Second place went to Cyril Jasper, whose bird clocked in at 3.53.46pm, at a speed of 1 122.029mpm, while Hennie Botha took third, with a time of 4.06.43pm and a speed of 1 115.928mpm.

This week the club flies from Hanover, 640km away.
