Season ends with two races

The Brakpan Pigeon Club had two races last weekend.

The first, a classic race, from Three Sisters, 810km away, and the second from Beaufort West, 880km away.

In Three Sisters the birds were liberated at 6.15am.

The first two birds back were for Piet Gerber, with the first clocking in at 4.50.01pm, with a speed of 1 275.379mpm.

The second bird was timed at 4.52.15pm, with a speed of 1 270.909mpm, while the third bird, belonging to Hennie Pienaar and Frik Smith (CX Hokke), was timed at 4.49.31, with a speed of 1 269.418mpm.

In Beaufort West, the birds were liberated at 6.15am and the first bird back again belonged to Piet Gerber.

It clocked in at 5.57.19pm, at a velocity of 1 251.841mpm.

Hennie Botha took second position, with his bird timed at 6.00.41pm, with a speed of 1 246.550mpm, while Tom Jooste (Jooste Hokke) took third, with his bird clocking in at 6.03.07pm, with a speed of 1 241.420mpm.

The completion of these two races marked the culmination of the club’s season.
