Burchell’s boot brings a different dimension
New signing creates competition for positions.
The mature right boot of new signing Ashley Buchler (31) will bring a new dimension to Brakpan Rugby Club’s first team, when they commence with Valke Peregrine League action on Saturday, May 8.
The team faces East Rand rivals Boksburg Rugby Club, away from home at PG Park, and will be hoping to continue their recent winning ways with their eyes firmly set on qualification for South Africa’s elite club rugby competition, the 2016 Cell C Community Cup.
Buchler has played the majority of his club rugby for Springs Rugby Club and also spent a few seasons with this weekend’s opponents, Boksburg.
He has also played six provincial matches in the Valke jersey, between 2004 and 2006.
Buchler will compete against Gido Horn and Kyle Hilton for the “Panne” number 10 jersey, but he is just as adept in the fullback position, currently occupied by Franco Booysen.
All four of Brakpan’s teams (u-20, u-21, second and first sides) will play Boksburg on Saturday, with the first XV clash kicking-off at 4pm.
