What a year of Brakpan sport: December highlights

The year 2017 was a busy one for Brakpan’s sportspeople.

There were ups and there were downs.

This is the 2017 Brakpan year in review.

• After their unbeaten run was brought to an end in the Eastern Premier League the weekend prior, Brakpan’s United Cricket Club suffered another defeat in the competition on December 3. The scheduled 50-over match against defending league champions Kempton Park Cricket Club was reduced to 20 overs per innings due to wet run-ups at the Barnard Stadium in Kempton. They lost by five wickets.

• Ekurhuleni Junior Golf showed recognition for all their juniors’ accomplishments in 2017 at a prize-giving function at Serengeti Golf and Wildlife Estate on December 3. State Mines Country Club’s Casey Jarvis was named the u-15 Player of the Year.
