Brakpan win evens the league out
Brakpan Rugby Club’s first XV bagged their first victory of the 2019 Valke Rugby Union’s Peregrine League.
Brakpan Rugby Club’s first XV bagged their first victory of the 2019 Valke Rugby Union’s Peregrine League when they defeated Boksburg Rugby Club 33-26 at the Bosman Stadium on April 6.
Following their defeat to Vereeniging away from home in their opening match the win was a welcome relief for a side that has had its fair share of struggles in recent times.
The win for the ‘Panne’ means that the clubs in the league are now all square on points after the first two games due to North West University (NWU) Vaal’s victory over Vereeniging on Saturday.
The true story of the day from Saturday’s clash was the return of quick winger Tobie Strydom who last featured for Brakpan two years ago.

He scored a remarkable try that will long be remembered at Bosman Stadium and was deserving of the Man of the Match plaudits.
Strydom marked his return with a brace of tries on the day while stalwarts Shaun Fourie (fullback) and captain Reg Muller each got themselves a try.
PJ Beukes converted two tries and slotted three penalty kicks.
The Brakpan u-21 side showed good form and are on track with their season winning 53-28 against Boksburg.
