Warm up cycle event coming up
With the famous 947 Ride Joburg coming up in November, cyclists will be looking to warm up for the major event.

One of the best races used to prepare for the 947 is the annual Carnival City Macsteel National Classic Cycle Race. The race at Carnival City takes place on October 26 and 27.
There is an event and distance to cater for every cyclist, ranging from a 60km and 34km mountain bike race, as well as a six to 12km MTB event for children. This takes place on the Saturday from 7am.
The following day will see the road cycle race taking place from 6am. Distances of 110km and 58km on a relatively flat course means it is possible to ride the full distance without walking.

At the same time (7am) there is the third edition of the trail run, with distances of 5km, 10km and 21km.
Online entries are open, and can be accessed through the race website at https://germistonclassic.co.za/enter-now/ More information about the event can be accessed from the same page.
The main purpose of the event is to raise money for local charities, particularly in support of Rotary Projects, The Rotary Foundation and the further development of amateur cycling in South Africa. Through this event the organisers have been able make significant donations to many charities, particularly in Ekurhuleni.
