Erasmus waits longer for Olympic Games

The Commonwealth champion has been dreaming of the ultimate games.

The Olympic Games have been postponed to 2021 and that can be an advantage for some sports stars.

Brakpan’s Martin Erasmus has been given extra time to prepare for the qualifiers for the wrestling events at the showpiece in Tokyo, Japan.

Erasmus was supposed to compete in the qualifiers in Morocco last weekend but they were postponed to May due to the outbreak of the coronavirus.

Erasmus has not been able to train as the municipality facilities have been shut down because of the virus.

The local 97kg wrestler wants to make it to the Olympics after he failed to qualify for Rio in 2016.

This year, he has been in good form as he came home with a silver medal from the African Championships in Algeria.

The Commonwealth champion has been dreaming of the ultimate games and he knows that he is edging closer to it.
