Rock your Mother Tongue Comedy unleashed at Carnival City

The Rock Your Mother Tongue Comedy show will be making its way to the Big Top Arena in February.

Rock your Mother Tongue Comedy is back in February for an exuberant reunion – this time at Carnival City.

The 2020 edition, Rock your Mother Tongue – The Reunion, promises to be bigger and better than ever before as some of the biggest names in vernacular comedy unite on stage with Mashabela Galane, who celebrates a decade of stand-up comedy this year.

In the lineup at the Big Top Arena on February 28 are Salesman, Sammy Fever, Peter Mashata, Tumi Stopnonsons and many more.

Rock Your Mother Tongue Comedy is a long standing proudly South African brand and has been associated with the trailblazers of vernac comedy.

The show is synonymous with the ever-changing South African urban culture influenced by a myriad of factors such as politics, socio-economic factors and fast-growing integration into the global scenes.

The brand of comedy showcased fuses the different South African cultures.

“Vernacular comedians are not as recognised as the mainstream guys,” said Galane.

“We have to work harder to get the recognition, but vernacular comedy is growing and people who come to the shows are extremely loyal and show a huge amount of love and appreciation.”

The show starts at 8pm.
