Ekurhuleni encourages residents to use My CoE App for accurate meter readings and billing
The self-service feature allows users to upload readings with photos and GPS location, helping ensure accurate billing while giving residents more control over their municipal accounts.
Residents are being reminded that the City of Ekurhuleni’s self-service meter management system allows them to submit their own readings to help avoid inaccurate billing.
This comes as some residents continue to raise concerns about receiving meter readings they believe are incorrect or estimated by the city.
The system, available on the My CoE App, enables users to capture and submit their own electricity and water meter readings through the Siyakhokha platform.
To use the feature, residents can log into the app, select the Siyakhokha tab, choose ‘Meter Systems’, and follow the prompts.
According to the city, the system offers several benefits, including eliminating estimated readings, reducing duplication errors, and allowing residents to upload photos of their meters.
Including GPS coordinates also helps ensure that readings are accurately linked to the correct property.
Residents are encouraged to check submission dates on the city’s website and in the Meter Systems tab of the app.
For those without smartphones, meter readings can still be submitted at Customer Care Centres. Alternatively, appointed meter readers may visit properties to capture readings, provided they have access to the meters.
The city said residents experiencing challenges with the system can contact the Siyakhokha Call Centre on 0119995102 or email Siyakhokha@ekurhuleni.gov.za. Support is available during office hours on weekdays and limited hours on weekends.
Given ongoing concerns about billing accuracy, residents are encouraged to use the self-service option to ensure their accounts reflect actual usage.
