Hijackers flee with truck after kidnapping driver

Gunmen targeted a delivery truck, blindfolding the victim and dumping him in Boksburg.

The driver of a white Isuzu 4-ton truck was hijacked and kidnapped along Ergo Road on May 4 while en route to make a delivery at a nearby company.

According to police information, the incident took place at around 11:40.

A silver vehicle with an unknown registration stopped at a stop sign in front of the truck, and two men exited the vehicle.

They approached the truck, climbed in and pointed firearms at the driver. After he was instructed to get out of the truck, the hijackers then forced him back inside.

He was blindfolded and told to co-operate. He was also robbed of his cellphone and wallet. The driver was dropped off in Boksburg, and the truck was later recovered in Benoni.

It was not disclosed whether any cargo was stolen from the truck. Cases of hijacking and kidnapping are under investigation by Brakpan SAPS.
