Brakpan Boxing Club tees off for successful annual golf day fundraiser
Brakpan golfers and community members turned out in strong numbers to help the Brakpan Boxing Club raise funds for hall rental and boxing equipment during its fifth annual golf day fundraiser.
Brakpan Boxing Club hosted their fifth annual golf day fundraiser at Pollak Park Golf Club on May 15.
The organiser, Jaco Visagie, explained that the purpose of the fundraiser is to help alleviate some financial challenges.
“One of our biggest challenges is the rental of our hall, where we do our practice. The cost of this hall varies between six and seven thousand rand every three months. So days like this help a lot to raise the funds for that,” he said.
He added that another challenge is purchasing enough equipment for the boxers.

“A lot of our boxers are from disadvantaged backgrounds. It’s crucial that our boxers all have the necessary equipment as it instilled confidence in them,” Visagie said.
The event was well supported by the Brakpan community and the club’s members. Visagie said this year’s golf day has seen increased support.
“In the previous years, we normally had around about 11 or 12 fourballs, and this year we ended up getting 16,” he said proudly.
He expressed his gratitude to everyone who supported the event.
