Water leaks in major Carletonville streets ignored

Thousands of litres of water is getting wasted.

The Merafong City Local Municipality continues to ignore glaring water leaks in two of Carletonville’s busiest streets.

In the past week, water streamed down the side of Dolomite Drive from numerous leaks between Reinecke Street and Talc Road.

It flowed from a leak at the Reinecke Street corner, the abundant water causing long, lush grass to grow at the site. So much water streamed down Dolomite on Monday that the intersection with Zinnia Place looked like it had just rained because so much water had dammed up there.

Water pipes have leaked on the sidewalk on Dolomite for years, which the municipality attributed to tree roots breaking the pipes.

Meanwhile, water still leaked at the Agnew Road and Kaolin Street crossing near the Carletonville Clinic.

Besides, the municipality has still not attended to the leak just around the corner on Kaolin Street. Water has been leaking in this area for months.
Although the Herald sent related questions to the municipality on Monday, it never received feedback.
