Tomorrow, Thursday May 15, a section of the N12 will be closed for an emergency situation simulation by Harmony Gold.

The road will be closed from 09:45 to 10:45 between the four-way crossing at the N12 and the R500 and the turn-off to Fochville on the way to Potchefstroom.

Various other authorities such as ambulance services, the SAPS, traffic departments and the CPF (Community Policing Forum) will also be involved.

The government requires mining companies such as, in this case, Harmony Gold, to hold such simulations to show that they are prepared in case of an emergency.

Only emergency vehicles will be let through during the time of the simulation and all other motorists will be re-directed onto an alternative route.
