Daylight shootout in Carletonville leaves suspect dead on Flint Street

Police recovered a firearm and cartridges as they continue searching for the remaining suspects.

A brutal daylight murder unfolded on Flint Street in Carletonville on December 1, following a chaotic shootout involving a resident and a group of armed men.

The incident occurred at approximately 15:20. A 31-year-old resident reported to the police that he had approached a house on Flint Street, near Agnew Road, in search of his brother. As he stepped into the yard, a group of about eight men approached him. They suddenly pulled out firearms and started shooting at him.

The resident fled up the street and managed to grab a bottle, which he threw at one of the men pursuing him. The bottle struck the man, causing him to fall to the ground.

The resident told police that he then disarmed the fallen man and shot him in the head. He also shot at two other suspects, who immediately ran away.

Police confiscated a 9mm pistol and also retrieved empty cartridges and a live round from various firearms at the scene. Authorities are investigating a murder case.
