Police have launched a murder investigation after a man was found stabbed to death in a car in Carletonville on January 30.

Passers-by spotted the victim sitting in a black Mazda 3 parked on Hornstone Street, next to open yards, at around 06:30. Realising something was wrong, they raised the alarm.

When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered the man had suffered fatal stab wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim has since been identified as a 38-year-old man from Mozambique.

At the time of going to print, no arrests have been made.
