Best days to collect your firearm documents

Make sure before you go to the Carletonville police station.

Residents applying for firearm competency certificates or licences could save time going to Carletonville Police Station on certain days for enquiries.

According to the designated firearms officer at the police station, Captain Tefo Madibo, people can apply for their licences on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.

Those wishing to collect them would have to wait in the queue behind people whose applications could take a while to complete. Therefore, it would save time for someone wanting to collect their licence to go there on a Monday or Wednesday.

It would be best to enquire after receiving an SMS from the SAPS to say your licence has been approved or has arrived. Alternatively, contact the firearms office at 018 787 9318/9 for more information.
