Community Christmas lunch restores dignity and hope in Carletonville

The Build-A-Life Foundation hosted its second annual Christmas lunch at the Carletonville Civic Centre Park, bringing together about 190 community members for a warm meal, dignity and connection.

The Build-A-Life Foundation successfully hosted its second annual Christmas lunch on Thursday, December 25, at the Carletonville Civic Centre Park. The lunch was an initiative rooted in compassion, dignity and community solidarity.

The event brought together approximately 190 community members to share a warm Christmas meal in an atmosphere of respect, care and belonging.

The initiative was proudly made possible through the generous support of PSA Africa, the main sponsor, which contributed R10 000 towards the Christmas lunch. This support enabled the foundation to provide meals and takeaway food to disadvantaged community members. PSA Africa’s commitment to social responsibility and community upliftment continues to make a meaningful difference in the lives of many.

Additional support was received from local businesses such as As Sweet As B and Kele-Thabo Events, as well as community members who donated pre-loved clothing and monetary contributions. This collective effort demonstrated the power of partnerships and local generosity in restoring hope and human connection.

Beyond the shared lunch, attendees were also provided with a meal to take home for supper, ensuring that care extended beyond the event itself.

The Christmas lunch is an annual initiative aimed at sharing love, restoring dignity and reminding people that they are seen, valued and not forgotten. The initiative was founded by Lerato Monyela and Jack Marike under the Build-A-Life Foundation, driven by a vision of building a more compassionate and inclusive society, especially during the festive season when connection and kindness matter most.

The organisation extends heartfelt appreciation to PSA Africa, all supporting partners and community members who made the day possible. Their support transformed a simple meal into a moment of hope, unity and shared humanity.
