Merafong matric results 2025: Local schools show strong performance and major improvements

Matriculants across the Merafong City Local Municipality delivered solid 2025 National Senior Certificate results.

The matrics of schools throughout the Merafong City Local Municipality excelled in the 2025 final examinations, with some performing better and several with similar results to 2024.

Our area’s only private school with matric learners, Aster Academy, was again the only school in Merafong to achieve a 100% pass rate for 2025. This is the third year in a row that they have achieved this goal. All eight of Aster Academy’s matriculants passed their final examinations.

Most of our government schools showed improvement.

Carleton Jones High School came out as the top government school in the National Senior Certificate (NSC) exams. Their 257 matrics obtained a pass rate of 97.7%, slightly higher than last year’s 97.1%.

Hoërskool Fochville was second-best with 97.4%, which is also only a minor increase over 2024’s pass rate of 97.3%.

Imfundo Secondary School from Kokosi was the third-best government school in our area with a pass rate of 96%. This was only a tad lower than the previous 96.7%, showing that this school has become one of our area’s regular top performers as well as the top-performing township school. Tswasongu Secondary School is the school with the biggest improvement in matric results, as they achieved 94.5%, much higher than the 80.7% of 2024. This also makes them the best-performing school in Khutsong.

A constant achiever over the past years, Letsatsing Secondary School, has a pass rate of 94.7%, up from the previous year’s 93.6%, while Thuto-Kitso Comprehensive School’s matriculants achieved a pass rate of 92.2%, slightly lower than the 92.5% in 2024. Hoërskool Wonderfontein has a pass rate of 90.1%, lower than the 2024 percentage of 95.6%.

Hoërskool Carletonville’s matriculants have a pass rate of 88.4%, lower than last year’s 97.5% pass rate. Badirile Secondary School’s matrics obtained a pass rate of 84.5%, a slight improvement on 82% in 2024. Fochville Secondary School has a pass rate of 79.7, lower than last year’s 83.3%.
